Couples who find it difficult to have a baby because they do not know the best days and regular visits to the follicular ultrasound lab are frustrating and can now improve their 89% chance with a small innovative home kit to identify fertile days with the help of a fertility monitor developed by a Bangalore-based medical diagnostics company. The Home Diagnostic Test Kit with Initio Reader, an application for your mobile device and test strips, allows women to track their fertile days at home in a simple and convenient way.
The Into Fertility Monitor identifies up to six fertile days in a woman’s cycle. The test strips are dipped into the urine and inserted into the device, the device connects to the phone and the Initio application shows the result, “said Aayush Rai, co-founder of Initio, which not only measures estrogen and luteinizing hormone in the urine but also cycle variations, delivering accurate results that are unique to each woman’s cycle, thereby increasing the chances of naturally becoming 89% pregnant, Rai said.
Initio is backed by its patented flat-lens technology, which allows smartphones to perform diagnostic tests on a single mobile device. Other products that are available at home, such as ovulation kits, are unreliable and do not work for the hormonal level of Indian women, he said.
A report by IIT Delhi professor Satish Dubey showed that he can read diagnostic test strips with a correlation of 99.12% compared to laboratory scanners, “Rai said, adding that the bulky lab reader costs Rs 3 lakh, the small one and portable Initio is the device for Rs 3,000.
He added that Initio would soon be adding diabetes, thyroid and vitamin D tests to the device. Adding multiple tests requires only an update of the application and the tapes with the reader remain the same. The device can also work on third-party tapes after updating the application.
