HOW DO WINTER AFFECTS BLOOD PRESSURE?

Blood pressure is responsible to flow the blood across our circulatory system. It helps in supplying oxygen and nutrients to tissues and organs of the body for proper functioning of the whole. According to certain studies and researches, winter season tends to oscillate the blood pressure. Some of the things which might be playing a good role in unbalancing the blood pressure include obesity, smoking, consumption of alcohol, some medicines such as birth control pills and steroids, intake of too much salt, stress, family hierarchy and insufficient physical activity in a day to day life.

 

An effective way to control blood pressure in winters season is the consumption of these below mentioned seasonal vegetables which help to maintain blood flow across our circulatory system.

 

1. Beetroot

 

Typically beetroot contains enough amount of dietary nitrate which is then converted into biologically active nitrate and nitric oxide which in turn amplifies the blood vessels allowing blood to flow easily and maintaining blood pressure. Beetroot also contains some amount of vitamin B which helps in the process of antioxidating. Moreover, it controls the cholesterol level.

 

2. Carrot

 

If you are looking for a vegetable which is filled with nutrients including vitamin K, potassium, fiber antioxidants and most importantly beta-carotene. Various studies have shown that beta-carotene helps in reducing blood pressure. Other than helping in balancing blood pressure, carrots are also good for decreasing cholesterol level and increasing eye health.

 

3.Spinach

 

This vegetable is also rich in its antioxidants and nutritious contents. Consumption of spinach increases eye health. It also decreases the blood pressure levels and also prevents cancer.

 

4. Fenugreek leaves ( Methi )

 

It is believed that fenugreek leaves decrease blood pressure levels. Because of the presence of fiber in it, it also controls the cholesterol level of the body. Other than these benefits, it also reduces fat, muscle pain and fever. It maintains liver and kidney health so overall it is one of the best vegetables in winters.

 

5. Raddish

 

Raddish is considered to leave a cold effect on the body. But its low content of sodium and rich content of potassium, vitamin C and fiber help in maintaining and lowering blood pressure. It helps in the proper functioning of the heart, the immune system and also helps in metabolic activities inside the body.

 

These are some seasonable vegetables which help in maintaining the fluctuating blood pressure in winters and lowering the cholesterol level and also it reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease
